Who are we?
The Southern Soldier fought for a just cause, and the light of their accomplishments can never be dimmed by any revision of History. We, the blood descendants of the Confederate Soldier are proud and honored to stand for them today. We must accurately preserve for future generations the legacy they left behind. Our ancestors left their homes and families in defense of Constitutional Liberty and States Rights to face over-whelming odds. Many paid the ultimate price. All endured hardships and suffering while maintaining the reputation of the greatest fighting force the world had ever known.
What does our organization do?
The Sons of Confederate Veterans has ongoing programs at the local, state, and national levels. Preservation work, marking Confederate soldier's graves, historical reenactments, scholarly publications, and regular meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States are only a few of the activities sponsored by local camps. We also vigorously defend any and all attacks on our Confederate heritage.
The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia, in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to insuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.
